Buried is probably one of the best films I have watched recently. For a movie that only shows a man in coffin, it was pretty well written. It’s surprising that it hasn’t made more money; and is not more popular. The reviews ‘Buried’ has gotten from both it’s Sundance showings and it’s&European Fantastic Film Festival of Strasbourgshowing made the film appear to very promising, which it was. In addition to that, it has won four awards further solidifying my opinion. I high recommend this movie to any avid film enthusiast.

I’m sorry Paul… it’s Mark White
For the past two weeks, I haven’t really listened to much of anything other than White Lies and Editors. I’ll write of Editors soon enough, but for now I’ll write about White Lies brand new full length, Ritual. I must admit I was not immediately attracted to the album through first listen; I thought the songs were a bit too long and some of the production was overwhelming (not too mention not too exciting). Although, with some more time the album grew on me, in all of its huge and atmospheric elements. The aggressive production plays a front line position on Ritual, and honestly, in my opinion the biggest factor setting the band apart from a number of other drums/guitar/bass/synth post punk revival outfits.

I feel that it is rather astonishing that Raised by Swans is not a more common name in the indie scene right now. Perhaps the lack of attention is due to the band’s small catalog and under-developed touring; but regardless, ’No Ghostless Place’ deserves a careful listen from any post rock enthusiast. Even though the record stretches out a bit too long for my taste (nearly 53 minutes), No Ghostless Place is a relentlessly heartbreaking album, chock-full of wonderful guitar work and brilliant lyrical material. Recorded with brilliancy by the band’s own bassist in London, Ontario: each song is crafted to modern perfection, all the while straying away from today’s overly-sterile and blatantly fake sound. Easily one of my favorite releases.
